Cabin baggage

One small piece of cabin baggage only will be allowed per passenger.  

• Recommendations :
  - Use this to carry fragile or valuable objects, photographic film, medicine, and any perishables.
  - Clearly label your luggage with your name and address. This will help us to reunite you with your luggage if it is lost.

• The following items are prohibited in cabin baggage : knives (including some penknives), scissors, manicure sets, sharp objects, weapons (including collector's pieces and toys), etc.
  Any such objects detected at security controls will be removed from passengers and destroyed.

• The following items are permitted in the cabin with restrictions or prohibitions on their use :
  - Use prohibited during taxiing, takeoff and landing : lagtop computers, camcorders, electric razors, radios, televisions, personal stereos, etc.
  - Use prohibited throughout the flight : mobile phones, CB radio, 2-ways radios, remote controls.

• 6/11/2006 : items permitted in the cabin : food for infants or young children required for the journey ; special medication or food items accompanied by a medical presciption in the passenger's name ; liquids, gels, creams, aerosols and pastes, which be stored in containers of 100ml maximum, placed in a single closed transparent bag one liter capacity maximum ; one bag only per passenger.
  If you are insure about any item, consult your airline before packing.

• Security check :
  Items to be placed in the tray : keys and money, belts, glasses, laptop computers taken out of their case, coats and jackets, large electrical items, mobile phone.
  Items to be presented to the security staff : 1L plastic bag containing liquids, gels, creams, aerosols and pastes.
  Items that are forbidden in the passenger cabin : weapons and toy weapons, scissors, blades, flammable liquids, golf clubs or similar items.

Hold baggage

• Dangerous objects for wich transport by air is prohibited : items which are explosive, flammable (lighters and matches), corrosive, irritant, toxic, radioactive, or magnetic, chlorine, paint, and compressed gases.

• Recommendation : clearly label your luggage with name and address.

Excess baggage

• Luggage is carried free of additional charge in the hold up to the maximum weight allowed by your airline. This allowance varies depending on the company, the flight, and you fare class.
  - Scheduled flights : 23 kg in economy class
  - Charter flights : 15 or 20 kg (it depends on the airline)
• Excess baggage charges apply to luggage which is heavier than these allowances.

Specificities Aer Lingus and Flybe
The taxation of hold luggage is established according to the weight and to the number of registered luggage.
During your booking, you have to specify the number of luggage which you will present to the checking desk.
The maximal allowance is 20 kg.

Unattented luggage

Please look after your own luggage. Unattented luggage is treated as suspicious and will be destroyed.
Please watch out for unattented luggage and advise a member of airport staff if necessary. 

WARNING : Never carry anything for a third party for whatever reason. 

Security check

Effective from Monday, 6 November 2006 :
Restrictions on liquids carried in hand baggage 

All bottles and tubes of a maximum of 100ml each must be carried separately in a clear plastic zip-top bag not exceeding 20cm X 20cm and presented at the security checkpoint.
Flights affected by these measures
All flights departing from airports within the European Union (and Norway, Iceland or Switzerland), including domestic flights, irrespective of their destination and the nationality of the airline. 

Passengers in transit
- If your initial flight is from a country within the EU and your connecting flight departs from an airport in the EU (and Norway, Iceland or Switzerland) : you can buy items in flight or from airport stores. These will then be placed in a sealed plastic bag.
- If you are transferring to a flight outside the EU : contact your airline beforehand to find out if any restrictions apply.
- If your initial flight is from a country outside of the EU and your connecting flight departs from an airport within the EU (and Norway, Iceland or Switzerland) : you are advised to place all liquids in your hold baggage before departure, including those purchased in airport stores outside of the EU. Otherwise, any liquids besides those placed in a clear, zip-top plastic bag not exceeding 20cm x 20cm will be confiscated at security checkpoints. 

Items prohibited
Liquids, aerosols, gels and pastes : mineral water, perfume, drinks, lotion, cream, shower gel, shampoo, mascara, soup, liquid medication, thoothpsate, liquid soap, deodorant, etc. 

Maximum size of each bottle or tube that may be carried on board
No container may exceed 100ml. 

Maximum size of the plastic bag
The clear plastic bag (freezer bag type) must measure approximately 20cm by 20cm. You are allowed a single bag that may contain several items (tubes, bottles, aerosols, etc.). 

To find such a plastic bag
You can buy this plastic bag (freezer bag type) in stores and supermarkets. Most European airports also supply these bags. However, as this service is a service to passengers and not an obligation, we cannot ensure these bags will be available everywhere and at all times. You are therefore advised to make the necessary arrangements before arriving at the airport. 

The permitted exceptions
- Medication in liquid form : you may take liquid medication (insulin, mixtures, etc.) on board provided you present a prescription in your name or a medical certificate to security staff. No restrictions apply to medication in solid form (pills or capsules).
- Baby food in liquid form : there are no restrictions on these products. Be sure to take items you can close after opening as you may be asked to taste their contents. 

When passing through security :
- Remove your jacket or coat.
- Remove from your cabin baggage for individual inspection : all large electrical items, e. g. laptops, large digital cameras and DVD players ; the clear plastic bag containing your bottles and tubes ; medication accompanied by a prescription or medical certificate ; baby food in liquid form ; items purchased in airport stores and placed in a sealed plastic bag at the time of purchase.
NB : not all stores are allowed to provide such bags. Check they do so before buying your items.
Liquid items may be purchased freely once you have cleared security provided you do not exceed customs restrictions.
Be aware that restrictions may apply if you are transferring to another flight. Ask before making any purchases. 

Advice to passengers
Check as many items as possible in your hold baggage and keep in your cabin baggage only what you absolutely need for your journey.
If you do not have any checked-in baggage and are only travelling with cabin baggage, you will need to place all liquids in a plastic freezer type bag measuring approximately 20cm x 20cm.
